Adult Family Violence ; Simon Kerrs, Anglia Ruskin University

30 March 2020, 09:30 to 13:30, Lambeth Town Hall 1-16

This session is designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to understand the context to, and prevalence of, Adult Family Violence (AFV), assess the impact of AFV, and signpost those impacted by the issue to relevant local services and pathways.

This is relevant for Children and Adults practitioners because it explores the violence between family members including where there are children in the household.

Serious Youth Violence

31 March 2020, 09:30 to 13:30, Lambeth Town Hall B-16

Understand the myths, facts and root causes of Serious Youth Violence (SYV) in Lambeth. The session provides an opportunity to hear from people directly affected by SYV; analyse some of the complex underlying issues and develop the skills, tools and interventions to respond to SYV as a safeguarding issue.

This is relevant for both Children and Adults practitioners given that it affects majority of those ‘transitioning’ between adolescence and adulthood.

Sex and relationships; consent and capacity; Nicola Kohn QC, Essex Chambers

01 April 2020, 09:30 to 13:30, Lambeth Town Hall 1-16

Case law related to an individual’s mental capacity to consent to sex and other personal relationship decisions is confusing and complex. Attendance at this workshop will enable participants to explore the law and current practice related to this topic in detail.

This is relevant for any practitioner working with people 16 years upwards.

Safeguarding and Homelessness; Susan Harrison, safeguarding consultant

02 April 2020, 09:30 to 13:30, Lambeth Town Hall 1-16

This workshop will cover current legislation in relation to this important issue, as well as detailing both national and regional practice guidance. During the event you will have the opportunity to consider the application of this guidance in a local context.

This is mainly relevant for adult practitioners however children practitioners would benefit from understanding the legislation and best practice in this area.

Safeguarding in a digital world; Katie Scott, Barrister & Ashley Rolfe, Child First Consultants.

03 April 2020, 09:30 to 13:30, Lambeth Town Hall 1-16

The session allows attendees to take a detailed look into on-line safety from the lived reality of both children and adults-at-risk. There will be an opportunity to consider current online risks and issues, as well as discuss professional strategies from a practice perspective.

This is relevant for both Children and Adults practitioners.
