Ndewo Nwoke na Nwanyi Igbo

Afrikindness, in proud partnership with the Igbo Union Yorkshire CIC Leeds, warmly invites you to a transformative Safeguarding Training created especially for African and diverse families.

In many African households, conversations around safeguarding—protecting children and vulnerable adults from harm—can be sensitive or misunderstood. But silence and uncertainty can lead to missed signs, delayed responses, and in serious cases, the involvement of social services that can deeply impact our families.

This free, culturally sensitive training is not just about policies—it’s about protecting our children, understanding our roles as parents, elders, and community leaders, and ensuring our traditions and values work with safeguarding, not against it.

You will learn:-

  • What safeguarding means in a UK context—and within our African culture
  • How to spot signs of abuse or neglect and what to do when you're concerned
  • How to build safer homes and community spaces
  • How to respond without fear, shame, or silence when a child or adult is at risk

We will delve deep into our rich Igbo culture and engage in honest, practical conversations about safeguarding—exploring how our traditions, values, and community structures can support the safety and well-being of our children and families.

Don't miss this conversation! Come with your questions and an open heart ready to engage.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments, connect with others, and take home real tools that empower you to act.

This session is especially designed for African parents, community leaders, youth mentors, and faith workers. Your presence can help us build the kind of village our children deserve—one where they are safe, heard, and supported.

Organized by

We organize webinars, seminars, and workshops for parents and teachers that build their racial knowledge and raise awareness of the impact of identity crisis on black and minority children (extend to other minority groups). We organise webinars and conferences for parents that provide information that can help parent support their children and young adults in their development - character development, ensuring that children have that enabling environment to show and receive kindness. This could be by providing information on the social and emotional development of children, educational information to ease the stress of education, or sign-posting parents to support systems available in the UK, Africa, or globally. We organize kids' academy and workshops that develop the social and emotional intelligence skills of black & minority children and young adults to enable them to thrive in their environment.
