Event description

Description

On behalf of the UK Safer Internet Centre, I would like to invite you to the Safer Internet Day 2018 Planning Event for Scotland.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to empower children and young people to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

Safer Internet Day (SID) achieves a huge impact because of the collective activities of people right across the UK. Schools run sessions for students, parents and staff; companies engage with employees, customers and partners; police services, charities, government and wider reach out through their networks; celebrities add their voice; and individuals across the UK connect with their families and friends. Co-ordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, last year’s campaign reached 42% of children (aged 8-17) and 23% of parents in the UK. There were over a million views of SID video content, 70,000 tweets, and over half a million downloads of SID educational resources. We aim to make Safer Internet Day 2018 on February 6 even bigger and by working together we can have an incredible impact across Scotland.

Come along to our planning event at the historic Edinburgh City Chambers to hear directly from the UK Safer Internet Centre about the SID 2018 campaign. It’s a great opportunity to network, share and be inspired by others’ plans for the day. Whether you are a school, charity, public sector organisation or private company, there is something you can do to play a part in the day. We will be delighted if you can join us and a range of leading organisations as we plan for Safer Internet Day.
