Safer Recruitment for Members of Appointment Panels
This one day event is for all those who are responsible for appointing staff and who take part in or administer appointment panels.
If your organisation recruit staff and/or volunteers into the children and young people’s workforce staff should be trained in safer recruitment practices. The Independent Schools Inspectorate and Ofsted recommend that schools ensure that sufficient relevant staff are trained in safer recruitment processes.
We recognise that schools and education settings are becoming increasingly accountable for safeguarding children when recruiting and selecting staff. This accredited training supports schools to effectively discharge their
responsibilities for safer recruitment.
Course Outcomes: Participants will have:

Explore how to meet current expectations in relation to the appointment of staff

Learn about how perpetrators operate and what this means for recruitment practice

Gain an awareness of how to explore with candidates their suitability for work in education settings where safeguarding is an issue.

Develop an understanding of how to maintain anti-discrimination and equal opportunities when appointing staff

Consider how to develop and maintain a safer working culture
This course is ideal for all those working in the Education sector, particularly Designated Leads and Senior Staff
and any others involved in the recruitment process.
This event is accredited by the Safer Recruitment Consortium, the nationally recognised body in this sector. Attending delegates are assessed throughout the session and all those that pass will receive an accredited certificate of completion after the event. Due to this process the event is slightly longer that our usual events, delegates must be present for the entire session. Registration is at 8.45 for a 9.00 start and the course will conclude by 16.30.
