Safe(r) Spaces :: Coalition Building, Low-Wage Work, and Violence
Thu 1 December 2016, 10:00 – 12:00 CST
The Economic Justice Work Group invites you to learn about a groundbreaking coalition.
The Coalition Against Workplace Sexual Violence (CAWSV) aims to support low-income workers who experience violence in the workplace. Their work includes educating work organizers on trauma, training them how to combat victim-blaming stereotypes, and equipping them with the knowledge needed to handle sexual abuse disclosures.
CAWSV Co-directors Karla Altmayer and Sheerine Alemzadeh will be discussing the coalition’s mission, strategies and work being done in the Chicagoland area focusing on sexual violence in the workplace. Come and learn about resources that can help staff members and job seekers know their civil rights and identify networks of healing and support.
