Sahra Hersi and the Peer Ambassadors: A Garden is a Right
Overview
For Black History Season 2025 Peer has been working with artist and spatial designer Sahra Hersi and the current cohort of Peer Ambassadors, a group of local young people aged 17-25, to create a series of new work in response to Khadija's Garden, Peer’s community garden and memorial to artist and previous Peer employee, Khadija Mohammadou Saye (30 July 1992 – 14 June 2017).
On Saturday 29 November, from 12pm -2pm Sahra and the Ambassadors will share the work they have produced together over the last month. Visitors will also be invited to create their own woad seed pouch to take away with them at the end of the event.
This event is free and open to all.
The Peer Ambassadors is an evolving creative youth programme that works with and supports young people aged 17-25 from underrepresented and lower socio-economic backgrounds from Hackney and Tower Hamlets to gain paid work experience, learn, collaborate, and build community.
