Themed Case Discussions
A key element of the revised Year 4 will be ‘Themed Case Discussions’. This will be in the form of a group session, where students will work through an unseen clinical case with a Session Lead. Students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge acquisition, cognition and ability to transfer knowledge during this session. The use of real-world scenarios will encourage students to develop diagnostic skills and begin to understand cognitive errors inherent in this process. The students will also attend sessions on "Patient Centred Consulting" on the same day to allow flexibility to discuss issues as they become topical, such as discharge planning, community services, care and compassion.
This workshop will explain the session process, the role of the Session Lead and how it fits with the revised programme.
This workshop is part of a series of PRIME staff development workshops run by Manchester Medical School. For further details and related workshops please see the PRIME website, and click here for directions to our workshop locations.
