About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Join us as we chat to Sally who is the author of

over twenty-five non-fiction books covering a wide

range of subjects from native bees and hedgehogs

to folklore and the history of rural buildings.

She is inspired by the natural world that surrounds her

smallholding in North Yorkshire where she writes from

a shed in the old orchard.

A Brief History of the Countryside in 100 Objects helps us learn

about our rural past, as the things we have left behind can often

provide a connection to the past unmatched by any document;

physical artefacts are touchstones that breathe life into

its history.

This event will be perfect for lovers of history, in particular

social and rural history. Join us for an evening of sparkling

conversation discussing Sally’s fascinating book.
