Event description
Cheer on competitors in the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline® and watch runners on the infamous Aonach Eagach ridge, from the summit of Am Bodach

About this Event

Get up high in the mountains and share the exhilaration with competitors of the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline®

Our guided walk is a chance to see many elements of the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline®. First the group heads to Checkpoint 5, which is a short walk up the stunning Lairig Eilde. After watching some of the runners passing through here, the group follows the road to Checkpoint 9, which is the support point and a hive of excitement and activity. Before long, you are back on the trail, tackling a steep ascent to the summit of Am Bodach, and the opportunity to see runners as they finish the traverse of the famous Aonach Eagach.

This guided walk is specifically designed for the friends and family of the competitors who would like to get out in the high Scottish mountains, but would prefer to do so as part of a group. A good level of basic fitness is required for this walk. Over 16s only.

For all our guided walks please come prepared for any weather, and a day of mountain walking. This means you will need the following essentials:

A packed lunch and plenty of snacks

Water bottle (and perhaps a thermos flask if it is cold)

Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers

Warm mid-layer AND a spare warm jacket (it quickly gets cold when you stop to spectate)

Suitable footwear such as walking boots

Hat and gloves

Headtorch

We would also recommend taking a smart phone (perhaps with a powerbank back-up) so that you can follow the GPS tracking live for the races. We will also provide each person with a race map. Our Mountain Leaders will carry emergency equipment for the group such as a first aid kit and group shelter.

Please note, when you meet your Mountain Leader, there will always be group discussion and decision about the itinerary based on the weather and groups’ ability. It is possible that the group will decide on a different plan. If transport is required, the group will need to organise this with their personal vehicles.

The hike is approximately 6km with 850m ascent. Exact start and finish times TBC upon meeting your guide.

Pre-booking here essential. Only 5 spaces avaialble.
