salon:lab - share in new plays in progress
Thursday, 23 April 2015 from 19:30 to 22:00 (BST)
the salon:collective's writer development programme is about to celebrate its second birthday by helping two more writers help move on their vision towards staged work. As always, we ask the audience to be part of the process when each project ends in a rehearsed reading with a lively q&a. Arrive from 7pm when the So&So Arts Club bar will be open, enjoy a taster of two new plays in progress and stay to chat afterwards.
The Spring 2015 salon:lab is again helping one of our actors to create new work. Sanee Raval, who recently completed all the Meisner training modules with the salon:collective, is drawing on his science background in The Glass Coating. This piece will eventually be a multimedia extravaganza exploring the ethics of the laboratory alongside the workings of the heart with reference to Indian mythology. Developed with actors Arinder Sadhra, Yusuf Bhaimia, Marc McCardie, Andrea Luiana Bonfim and Sandeep Garcha.
We are also working with Lucy Gallagher and Ravi Meah, whose Fats and Tanya explores the relationship between a Muslim social worker and her most troublesome client, an abused young mother with London Irish roots. Fatima draws on the stories of her childhood in Bangladesh as she finds not only common history but shared present-day insecurities with combative, mouthy Tanya. Developed with actors Arinder Sadhra and Louise Devlin.
salon:lab is run on a not-for-profit basis, currently without any funding sources. All donations are gratefully received to help make future development possible.
