This trip is a great opportunity to get off campus at the end of semester and explore the unique Saltaire World Heritage Centre and the nearby countryside of Shipley Glen and Baildon Moor. Saltaire is named after Titus Salt and the river Aire which runs through the site where here he created the world's first industrial model village.

There will be a choice of two walk options both visiting Shipley Glen with the longer route extending to visit the top of Baildon Moor which offers great all round views of the Airedale and Wharfedale valleys There will be some free time afterwards to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site and take in some of the Christmas attractions including the Living Advent Calendar - https://saltaireinspired.org.uk/events/living-advent-calendar/

There are so many things to do in Saltaire including visiting the central Salts Mill which is a focus for art, dining and shopping in one stunning historic building. Inside you can admire the large collection of works by David Hockney, and enjoy bustling restaurants, cafes and a book shop.

We will be meeting in front of the Parkinson building at 09:45am to allow us to leave on time at 10.00am to take you to Saltaire. We will return to campus at approximately 18:00

Location:Saltaire UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Shipley Glen and Baildon Moor, Airedale Valley.

Transport:We will travel via coach. This is included in the ticket cost.

What you need to bring:Please come in suitable footwear for uneven and unpaved terrain (walking boots or strong trainers) and a change of footwear for after the walk. You will also need:

Waterproof jacket and warm clothes
A change of footwear for after the walk and a bag for your muddy boots/shoes
Food/packed lunch and drink for during the walk
Money/card if you wish to purchase items in the town
