Welcome to the Saltdean Lido Tour and Networking event hosted by G4C and SCYPN! Join us at Saltdean Lido on October 2, 2025 at 4:00 PM for an exciting evening of exploration and connection.

Saltdean Lido, designed in the 1930s by London architect Richard W. H. Jones, is one of Britain’s finest examples of modernist seaside architecture. Built in the International Style with a distinctive Streamlined Moderne design, it symbolised the optimism and progressive spirit of interwar leisure culture. Commissioned by entrepreneur Charles Neville as part of his Garden City-inspired holiday resort at Saltdean, the Lido and its sister building, the Ocean Hotel, were created to elevate Saltdean into a fashionable destination within the competitive British holiday market.

English Heritage has recognised Saltdean Lido as one of the Seven Wonders of the English Seaside, describing it as the pinnacle of lido design in the UK. Its modern facilities rivalled any pool in southern England and attracted international acclaim.

Today, Saltdean Lido remains a celebrated landmark of Britain’s seaside heritage after being fully restored in recent years. Our tour will take you through the histroy of the site and its architectural marvel, alongside interesting talks from consultants who were involved in that process.
