Event description
Join Samaritans for a solution-focused workshop discussing policy responses to the rise in levels of self-harm amongst young people.

About this Event

In response to the concerning rise in rates of self-harm in the UK, Samaritans has this year embarked on a programme of research to deepen our knowledge of the issue. Our eventual aim is that fewer people who self-harm die by suicide.

This workshop will bring together health professionals, civil servants, academics and those working directly with young people to discuss policy solutions.

Please join us on 31st October 2019 to:

• Discuss and feedback on our initial findings from our self-harm research programme

• Help develop effective policy recommendations based on our evidence and your insight

• Find out more about Samaritans work in this area and network with colleagues in the area of self-harm and suicide prevention

Putting the voice of people with lived experience at its heart, our research aims to understand more about what support is available for those who self-harm, both in clinical and community settings, and how effective that support is from the perspective of people who self-harm. We want to know what prevents people from receiving an appropriate clinical assessment or community support and how this can be tackled.

Please join us at 9am for a 9.15am start.
