Event description

Description

We are pleased to welcome Ollie Tunmer, director of Beat Goes On, to lead this practical workshop, featuring samba drumming and body percussion. Ollie is a former cast member of STOMP and a qualified music teacher.

During the afternoon you will get the chance to learn how to play Brazilian percussion instruments, learn Brazilian rhythms, develop ensemble leading techniques and compose your own rhythms. There will the opportunity to play a range of drums and look at how you can adapt samba drumming to classroom percussion instruments.

Ollie will also introduce and explore elements of body percussion. Through fun and accessible games and exercises everyone will work together to develop confidence and understanding of this highly adaptable medium.

There will be useful information about how you can include group percussion techniques in your teaching, when working in schools or community settings. Activities can be immediately implemented into lessons, rhythms can be learnt aurally and can include everyone, with or without musical experience.

This workshop is suitable for teachers, leaders, practitioners and everyone who would like to develop more skills and experience of group percussion.

Please note that we do not offer an option to pay by invoice on our Eventbrite page. If you would like to pay by invoice please contact Sound Connections on 0207 729 7220.
