About this event

Spirituality • Folk Religions

Long before Halloween became a night of dressing up and trick or treating, Samhain was a sacred celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year.

Known in celtic tradition as the Witch's new year, Samhain was a time when communities paused to honour the ancestors, tend the hearth, and walk the bridge between worlds.

Offerings of food, drink, and candle light were made to the spirits who had passed, and songs, stories, and ceremony kept the connection alive.

Many of these traditions - the deep reverence and coming together in remembrance, - have been largely forgotten or overshadowed by the modern holiday of Halloween.

In this gathering, we return to our own ancestral roots, reviving the sacred practices of Samhain and welcoming their medicine into our lives and hearts.

On the sacred night of Samhain, when the veil between worlds grows thin, we will gather in circle to remember and honour our ancestors, those whose footsteps paved the way for us to be here today.

When:

Friday 31st October

7:00pm - 10pm (ish!)

Where:

At ookushana workshop

What To Expect:
- Ceremonial Cacao + Journaling Alchemy - opening our hearts and supporting us to connect more deeply to our ancestors and each other.
- Collective Offerings Ceremony - creating a communal altar and offerings bundle with prayers, gratitude, and offerings for our ancestors.
- Sound & Song Circle - weaving our voices together in song, sound, and silence, held in collaborative harmony.

(Please bring along any song ideas!)

** I am hoping to have a fire outside if the garden is clear of building works! **

This will be an evening of reverence, gratitude, and connection - a time to sit together in ceremony, offering presence and love to the ones who came before us.

What to bring:

  • An offering for the ancestor altar (flowers, items from nature, food, fruit, candles, poem, or any symbolic item)
  • A journal or notebook & pen
  • Comfortable clothing for sitting in circle (please dress warm as the workshop can get chilly this time of year)
