Samhain Craft Workshop - to connect with your ancestors

Magick of Samhain Workshop

At Halloween or Samhain (pronounced Sowen), we celebrate our ancestors. Join me to learn about true meaning of Samhain that has been lost beneath pumpkins, trick or treating and consumerism.

The Workshop has been created to take place the week before Samhain so that we can work with the energies of Time and Spirit, you then take your items home ready for the 30th and 31st of October. We will create a loose incense to burn at Samhain, and hand roll it into beeswax candles. We then make what is called a Spirit Doll or Poppet to connect with your ancestors who have passed over into the spirit realm. This is a wonderful and time-honoured tradition across many cultures for thousands of years. You will weave your personal memories into your Spirit Doll, (a little bit of sewing is needed, but help is at hand!), and also weave in the magick of the energies of Samhain to honour your ancestors. The energies of Samhain and the veil between here and the Otherworld (spirit) are open at this time of the year allowing us to honour the memories you hold in your heart.

Spirit Dolls and Poppets are not, (as many people have been led to believe) a way of connecting with evil, they are a simple way to remember our ancestors, just like the teddy bears now made from Granddad’s shirt and sat on the shelf watching over you – there is no difference. Your poppet can be placed near photos of ancestors or at your sacred space or alter so that you have a connection to your ancestors for their wisdom along your path.

Your candles and incense can be used at Samhain - we will talk all about this during our time together along with the deeper meanings of the Wheel of The Year.

What I provide for you:

• A sacred space to weave the magick.
• Nibbles and drinks.
• All the materials needed to make rolled candles, incense and your poppet.
• Fun atmosphere of lighthearted chat between us all to remember our ancestors and stories.

What do you need to bring:

• Just an open heart and your intention to have a fun few hours with like-minded people.
• If you have something that belonged to a loved one who has passed, maybe a button from a shirt, or a brooch, and you would like to add this to your poppet then please bring that long. This isn't necessary as your love will be enough.

What do you go home with:

• A small amount of loose incense.
• Three hand rolled in incense beeswax candles to burn at Samhain, rolled by you.
• Your ancestral Spirit Doll Poppet, created with love by you.
• A printed Samhain booklet with recipes and rituals for Samhain.
• A deeper connection to your loved ones who have crossed through the Veil into Spirit.

If the workshop doesn't sell more than five tickets we will cancel and refund, this is because it doesn't make it cost effective in materials and room hire!
