On Sunday 30 October, the Samosa Sisters are preparing lunch for us in the Jubilee Hall, at 12.30 pm. This is to support the Peace of Mind charity.
Peace of Mind - a group of women based in Gateshead - supports asylum seekers now living here in the North East to overcome barriers and difficulties integrating into society: cultural differences, language barriers, laws around children in the UK, social differences, financial issues and isolation.
Peace of Mind offers advice, friendship and practical help - such as with transport costs. Trying to make ends meet on £5 a day (which is what the UK government provides) isn't easy, so some of the women have turned their hands to catering - the Samosa Sisters.
Knowing how sociable and hospitable this valley is, Michael Boag has invited them to come to Rothbury to share their food, flavours from the refugee lands, and their stories with us.
The sisters need 2 weeks to plan thier menues and prepare themselves for their great cook up so, if you'd like to join us, please book your seat by Sunday 16 October.
We'll take donations on the day to cover the sisters' exepnses and raise a little money for Peace of Mind. So we suggest a minimum donation of £5 for three delicious courses.
