Scottish Association for Marine Science UHI (SAMS UHI)

SAMS UHI is one of the UK’s leading independent marine research institutes; located on Dunstaffnage bay on the west coast of Scotland.

Our unique rural location near Oban and active research facilities offer students an unbeatable opportunity to learn about, and study, the marine environment and how it works.

The four-year course is Scotland's only multidisciplinary course in marine science, integrating the studies of marine biology, physical and chemical oceanography and marine geology and leading to a rounded understanding of the marine system. Students also gain a diverse range of numerical, technical, analytical, field sampling, time management and communication skills which make them highly employable.
