Event description

Description

Changing the perception of mental health.

Through sharing stories.

Join the Sanctus Community for a unique evening of inspiring stories from people who are open about their personal story of how they’ve worked with their mental health, to become the best versions of themselves.

This event will have energy like no other; will incite curiosity and leave you feeling inspired.

Sophie Miller (Host) - Sophie is a Sanctus Coach. She loves creating space for people to show up, open up and be real whether that's in a group workshop or in 1:1 coaching.

Rose Scanlon-Jones (Host) - Rose is the Sanctus Community lead. She's all about making sure your voice is heard, mental health is part of the everyday conversation and creating inclusive spaces.

Africa Brooke (Speaker) - Africa Brooke is a 25-year-old Zimbabwean born Londoner. After years of binge drinking Africa hit rock bottom and had to face some truths she had been hiding. On the 7th of November 2016, a black-out related incident finally forced her to get sober. Although initially uncomfortable, she went into therapy and unravelled everything. Africa has now found a community within sobriety and has faced her mental health straight on. In getting sober she got to feel and understand just how important mental wellness is. Getting sober aided her to prioritize my mental well-being and her physical health too. She now writes for the likes of Gal-Dem and Cherry Revolution on self-care, sexuality, empowerment and mental health.

Dan Keeley (Speaker) - Dan is a mental health campaigner & purpose-driven optimist on a quiet mission to help the UK have the best mental health on the planet. In 2012, after 6 months of not looking after himself, Dan experienced a full-scale manic episode which led to him preaching from the central lane of a major motorway in Italy at rush hour. After time spent in psychiatric wards, the diagnoses of Bipolar Disorder and 6 months of crippling depression which had him wanting to take his own life, Dan started his long yet progressive journey back to the positive place you find him in today. 5 years on from that defining chapter, Dan returned to Italy and has just completed a 1250 mile solo & self-supported running adventure from ‘Rome To Home’ to share his story and keep more men alive by talking!

More Speakers to be confirmed.

Open Mic / Q&A - There will be an open mic slot for anyone in the audience who feels inspired to share their own story or if anyone would like to ask any questions.
