About this event

Join us at Sandbox, an open and informal gathering where leading sound practitioners share their latest work and meet fellow sound artists in London. This event explores sound creation through plant and mushroom bio-data.

Led by Latvian artist Sabīne Moore (Waterflower), the session invites participants into her decade-long practice of working with living systems as musical collaborators. Blending glitch, ambient, noise, and punk-influenced digital music, Waterflower transforms ecological signals into immersive soundscapes.

During the session, Sabīne will share insights from over a decade of plant- and mushroom-generated sound practice. From fully-improvised avantgarde and ambient "houseplant" concerts, to using plants and mushrooms for eco-electro-punk music, to their ongoing immersive study Latvijas Biotopu Skaņas ("Sounds of Latvian Biotopes"), they will explore how involving plants and mushrooms as co-creators can become a tool for ecological empathy, music composition and production, and rethinking interspecies connection.

This event will feature a plant and mushroom improvised "orchestra", tailored for a live multi-channel setup. To close, attendees will be invited to interact directly with the plants and mushrooms, experiencing their own connection to the living collaborators.
