Sands Bank is a 27 acre nature reserve, home to many species of butterflies and orchids, thanks to the rich chalk grasslands. Butterflies including Small Blue, Chalkhill Blue, Adonis Blue, Holly Blue and Common Blue can all be spotted here.

Transport & Address:

We will be working at Sands Bank Nature Reserve. We will meet on site at 10am and finish at approximately 3pm. We will meet in the overflow car park of Adams Park Football Stadium. Free parking is available here. The nearest postcode is: HP12 4HS.

Please can we ask everyone to arrive on time to ensure you do not miss the health & safety and task briefing. If you are late and the session has already started, you may not be able to join. Thank you.

You don't need to print off your Eventbrite ticket!

The Task:

We will be carrying out scrub management on Sands Bank. We need you lovely volunteers to assist with the scrub bash, raking and possible a bonfire!

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!

10.15: Work begins

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch Break - please bring your own

15.30: Work finishes, time to go home!

What to bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain.

Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Access: Sands Bank is on a steep slope and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
