Following the success from last year's Santa Fun Run and our incredible Colour Run in August, Herriot Hospice Homecare will be hosting various Santa Fun Run's throughout the Hambleton and Richmondshire Districts leading up to Christmas.
Tickets are £15 for ages 13 and above, and £7 for ages 12 and below. Your ticket includes entry on to the site, 1 FREE Santa suit and a medal for when you cross the finish line. You can choose to come in other Christmas themed dress, at no additional cost, should you wish. Hot and soft drinks will be available to purchase before and after the race as well.
Both races will start from the Hall (6.5km first followed by the 3.6km shortly after), which is just off Wensley House in Wensley Village. The concrete track will take you past Middle Lodge and up to Bolton Hall on your right. There will be car parking here available from 9am until 1pm.
Bolton Estate comprises 2 courses, a shorter and longer route, please see details below.
The smaller course is approximately 3.6km which is around 2.2 miles. It is on a mix of flat pavement and grass and the majority of the terrain is flat. This course is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs (jogger prams or mountain buggies advised), however please take into consideration of the weather in December as we expect a lot of mud.
The longer route is 6.5km which is about 4 miles. This route takes you alongside the River Ure and offers spectacular views of Pen Hill and the Wensleydale Moors. This route is through West Wood, through the trees and tracks and ends back at the Hall. This route is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs as this is a hilly route, with natural hurdles such as tree routes and branches and we recommend an adult is running with anyone under the ages of 16. This route is expected to get quite messy in December and you WILL get muddy so please think about bringing a change of clothing and shoes with you.
All money raised from these events will go to support Herriot Hospice Homecare with Bereavement, Therapy and Volunteer lead services. If you would like to volunteer at this event, please call 01609777413 for more information.

Can I update my registration information?
When you pay for your ticket online you will receive a registration form where you will sign a disclaimer and asked to fill some personal details which we ask you to bring with you. If you wish to change these details, simply download the form again from your emails and fill in with the correct details ready for arrival.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, please bring your printed ticket as well as your registration form to the event. You will be asked for your ticket when entering the grounds and again when collecting your suit.
Do I need to be a Runner to do The Santa Fun Run?
Not at all! 6.5km equals to 4 miles which on average is a medium to long dog walk. On average it takes a healthy adult 20 minutes to walk 1 mile, so we are estimating 1 hour and 10 minutes to walk the 4 miles, and around 40 - 50 minutes to run.
Is the Santa Fun timed?
The Santa Fun Run at Bolton Hall is not a timed event. If you wish to time it yourself and would like to achieve a personal best for yourself, we suggest you head to the start line first and be a part of the first stage of runners.
Can I take photos and videos at the event?
Of course! We urge you take as many photos and videos as you can throughout the event and tag Herriot Hospice Homecare in on all social media platforms! Photos must be used for personal use only. We have a photographer coming on the day too, where you will be able to purchase professional shots of the day after the event. A donation will be made to charity with every purchase made!
Do I have to raise sponsorship at this event?
No, not if you don’t want to. The outgoing cost to run this event is extremely large for such a small charity like ourselves. After a recent restructure, where we have had to cease our End of Life care we are determined to raise as much money as we can and push to give our patients and their carers the
care and assistance they need and deserve. Unfortunately, sponsorship for other charities cannot be offered at this event.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcomed in grounds and on the runs. Please be understanding that children will be there, so if your dog doesn’t like children or other dogs, please re consider bringing it. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and extendable leads are acceptable.
Will water be available?
Water will not be available during the course, however you can buy bottles of water pre and post-race for £1. We advise you take a bottle on the run/walk with you to have as and when you need it. There will be bins at the Hall for you to dispose of your empty bottles – please do not litter.
Are there any cleaning stations/changing rooms?
What if I cannot attend and wish to receive a refund?
We cannot offer refunds after you have signed up. Unfortunately, the extent of logistics and planning of this event means we cannot issue a refund after payment has been received. This event takes a lot of money to fund for a small charity like ourselves, so every penny counts in helping raise as much as we can for our local hospice.
