Event description
Bring some Yin into your life with with with this mini Yoga workshop. Grab some me-time and enjoy this calming experience.

About this Event

Santosha means contentment it is about accepting and finding joy in whatever life brings you. If you are able to experience contentment in this way then happiness becomes your choice.

These occasional Saturday morning mini workshops help you experience elements of yoga that you don’t usually get the chance to spend much time on in your regular weekly classes. The key is to enjoy an element of yoga that helps you stretch, de-stress and embrace Santosha. This is a great way to expand and compliment your regular yoga practice.

We will be practicing slow non-standing poses, with focus on the breath, calming the mind and stretching the body. This will be a combination of Yin and Restorative Yoga poses – you will spend time in poses allowing your body to notice how it feels and educate your muscles to fully release so they are less tired and can be more energy efficient. This can help with pain management.

Each pose will be held for a few minutes which allows your body to gently sink into the stretch and providing you with a positive shift in your energy. The time in the pose is used to observe your body and focus on your breath. It is a great opportunity for some quality “me time” helping you feel calm and in control of your body, while you can forget about the never-ending to do list.

Whether you are tired and craving energy or over-stimulated with too much energy this is an ideal way to de-stress and bring your energy levels to a balanced state.

In the Restorative poses you will hold the pose in a way that is fully supported (with props where needed) and comfortable – they are all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. This allows your muscles to relax deeply and release tension stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, slowing the heart rate and regulating blood pressure.

In the Yin poses you may find some effort (or challenge) in holding the poses – I will help you find the pose that best takes you to your threshold (not too strong and not too soft) and so that works for you. By holding the poses for longer, your body responds by becoming stronger and more flexible.

If you are new to Yoga, then you are very welcome but be aware this won’t be the classic experience you may expect from all those Instagram images.

If you are pregnant please contact me before booking the workshop to check it is suitable for you. This workshop is not suitable if you are less than 14 weeks pregnant. Each workshop is 1 hour & 15 minutes long with a maximum of 6 students, so we have plenty of space to stretch out in the studio.

Please note there is no parking provided at the location - I am only a few minutes walk from Tonbridge High Street and there is plenty of free street parking just off the Hadlow Road. In addition there are no changing or toilet facilities - it’s just a small and lovely studio.
