This is an opportunity for you to explore a world of texture and colour and create your own unique Saori woven piece to take home.

A prepared loom will be waiting for you, along with a wealth of colourful weaving yarns. I will teach you to use the loom and introduce Saori patterning techniques. The day is then yours to relax into the weaving experience and explore.

The finished length of your weaving will depend on the complexity of the weave, but there will be enough time for everyone to create a piece that could be used as a wallhanging, table runner or perhaps fabric for a bag or cushion cover.

No previous experience is necessary. The looms are very easy to use and you will be creating your own fabric within minutes of starting.

All materials are provided: you will be weaving on a cotton warp and most of the weft yarns will be cottons, with some wool and mixed fibres also available. You are very welcome to bring your own yarns, ribbons, scraps of material etc to include in your weaving - a great way to utilise those lovely but random odds and ends from your stash!

All ages and abilities are welcome. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Please bring your own lunch. I provide biscuits, healthy snacks and hot drinks (tea, coffee, herbal teas, soya and cow's milk). Please let me know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.

Access

The studio has level access throughout and a fully disabled access toilet. I have one loom that can be used with a wheelchair and also a number of accessories that can be used with the other looms to make it easier for people with limited strength or mobility to weave. Please do let me know if you have any access requirements or if you would like to discuss using any of the accessories.

Location

The workshops are at Imagine Community Studios, a bright and welcoming space in the heart of Stroud's mill heritage. Located in a peaceful setting between the canal and the river, Imagine Community Studios are walking distance (15 mins) along the canal from Stroud town centre and the train station. There is also ample free parking beside the studios.
