Join Gill for some exciting poetry workshops with an open mic at the end of it!
About this event
Throughout LGBT History Month local poet Gill Shaw will take you on a Sapphic poetry journey with three different themes, followed an optional Open Mic night at the end of February.
Week 1 / 3 Feb - Identity Poems
Week 2 / 10 Feb - Love Poems
Week 3 / 17 Feb - Protest Poems
24 February - Open Mic (!!! NOW AT TOOTH AND CLAW !!!)
Each of the three workshops will include:
- An exploration of contemporary sapphic poems on the theme for the session
- Prompts for generative writing exercises
- The opportunity to share and receive feedback on your writing
All levels of experience welcome. You can come along to just one session, or two, or three sessions, whatever your schedule allows and it is free to attend.
The Alleycat will be selling tea, coffee and cake. Huge thanks to them for sponsoring the venue.
Maximum 15 attendees, from 7-9 pm.
As workshop attendees you will have the opportunity to share your writing at the Open Mic.

Open Mic
An evening of Sapphic Poetry in 3 parts : Identity Poems, Love Poems, Protest Poems.
Share your own writing, or read your favourite sapphic poems by other writers, on the themes of Identity, Love and Protest.
All welcome and it is free to attend.
Time: 7-10pm (Doors Open 6.45pm)
