Sarah Butterfield - Art Talk
Thu 6 April 2017, 13:00 – 14:00 BST
D Contemporary Gallery is very happy to present Science and My Painting - Art Talk by Sarah Butterfield
Join Sarah on a tour of her paintings in the exhibition when she explains the role of Science in her figurative and deeply colourful work. We’ll see how scientific concepts, such as the centre of gravity, evaporation, the Laws of Motion all help Sarah understand the natural world better and give her an added impetus to paint.
Sarah's exhibition will be on display from the 29th March - 11th April. Monday - Saturday 11am - 8pm.
About Sarah Butterfield
The competing glow of the electric lights of the city set beneath the fireworks of the sunset above, the soft lights of dawn catching fire as the sun rises, shallow waters at the ocean’s edge where light is fractured, the lights of a cafe in city bustle, the movement of sunlight over the surface of the river, bright beach light dissolving edges of the figure – all these are captured by Sarah’s brush. Her passion for the natural world finds expression with dashing, calligraphic brushwork that seizes the essentials and allows her colouristic patchwork to play in the onlookers’ eye.
Her paintings are owned by Jenny Agutter, Professor Brian Cox, Richard Curtis, John Humphreys, Charles Jencks, Rt Hon Michael Portillo, Lord Coe, HRH Prince of Wales, HM The Queen and Jon Snow.
Sarah has exhibited at major London galleries, including The Royal College of Art, Agnew’s, Cadogan Contemporary, Albemarle and Frost & Reed. She has also exhibited in New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Her work is in many public and private collections in Europe and America.
