Description

THE COURSE

Sashiko, meaning “little stabs”, is a traditional Japanese form of stitching that was used originally on peasant clothing to strengthen weak cloth and to add warmth. The traditional colour of the fabric used for Sashikois Indigo blue with white or off-white stitching [this stitching turns pale blue on washing because of the loose indigo dye in the cloth], but it can be worked on many different colours, including hand-dyed fabrics and with coloured threads. On the course you will work on a choice of two traditionally inspired panels or learn to design your own more contemporary projects
