About this event

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese form of embroidery or stitching, meaning "little stabs". It features simple running stitches used to create decorative patterns and reinforce fabric. Originally a practical technique for repairing and strengthening textiles, it's now also appreciated as a heritage art form.

We will show you how to get started with Sashiko stitching and visible mending. You should go away with one or two completed items. We'll provide tools and materials but please feel free to bring in a piece of your own clothing for mending or any of your own materials.

Participants should be 18 or over or be accompanied by an adult. Due to limited space, accompanying adults will also need to book a place.
