Saturday 6th March- Main Library Access
Event Information
About this Event
In direct response to student and user feedback, from Monday 1st March we/ Library Services will be trialling a “collection only hour” for those who only wish to collect books and other physical items from library, without using a study space.
The hours will be 8am-9am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (for collection only, no booking required). The building will be fully cleared at 9am.
The Wolfson Room will also be open from 8am – 4pm on these days for collection of items from the Research Reserve.
Normal study bookings (via Eventbrite) will then begin at 10am on those days.
We hope that this will not only alleviate the pressure for those students who need access to material quickly, but also make available more tickets bookings to those that require them for study space.
This trial will last initially for two weeks, at which point the service will be reviewed. You can leave feedback about the service, or if you have any questions, please get in touch with the Just Ask team.
We know you understand that capacity is limited so we ask that you:
• Only make bookings if you are in one of the groups who need to be on campus at present (in accordance with the latest government guidance)• Cancel any bookings if you can no longer make it; let someone else have the opportunity making a booking• Access is limited to University of Birmingham staff and students only.
• Take another look at what we offer virtually- we have a range of virtual services including skills support, our enquiry service and are constantly improving our online resources to support research, teaching and learning.
If we reach maximum capacity and you leave the building, you must take your belongings with you, because to return you will be asked to queue as it will be one in one out, in order to control numbers in the building. You do not need to rebook, but we cannot guarantee waiting times as this will depend on demand.
