We can all be grateful that Portugal remained loyal to their array of indigenous grapes, such as Touriga Franca, Baga or Alvarinho, and resisted the trend from the late 20th Century of replanting old vineyards with international varieties like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Today no European countries represent better value or broader choice than Portugal, which offers everything from your zesty whites to your strapping reds, and let's of course not forget the pleasures of Port!
So tonight, all aboard our barca velha as we travel from the Atlantic to the Spanish border to uncover Portugal's vinous offerings.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
