Description

Exploring the domestic sources of Saudi foreign policy as well as the influence and shifting trajectories of Islamic ideological trends in the Kingdom, mainly Salafism.

The conference is both timely and significant given the recent tensions inside and outside Saudi Arabia.

Experts and speakers from different disciplines and backgrounds will address the conference, to help navigate and understand the issues at hand.

**Panelists and international guests at the conference include:

- Professor Robert D. Crane – Former adviser to US President Richard Nixon and Deputy Director of the US Security Council.

- Julie Ward MEP – British Member of the European Parliament, Labour party.

- David Ward – Former member of the UK Parliament and currently serving as Liberal Democrat Bradford councillor.

- Hugh Miles – Award-winning journalist, author and Middle East specialist; contributing editor of ArabMedia and Society.

- Andrew Feinstein – Member of Parliament for ANC South Africa; Chair, Friends of the Treatment Action Campaign, and director, Corruption Watch.

- Jonathan Fryer – Writer, lecturer and broadcaster; works the BBC, Arab media, and SOAS, University of London.

- Toby Cadman – Co-Founder, Guernica 37 Int. Justice Chamber; lawyer specialising in international-criminal law, humanitarian law, terrorism, maritime security, extradition, and human

rights.

- Yahya Assiri – Yahya Assiri, is a Saudi Arabian human rights activist and former member of the Saudi Air Force.

- Professor Adil Salahi – Author of Muhammad: Man and Prophet; Pioneers of Islamic Scholarship; and amongst other publications.

- Dr Barbara Zollner – Lecturer in Middle East Politics at Birkbeck, University of London. Her areas of expertise are political trends in the Middle East and North Africa.

- Imam Fadel Soliman – Director, Bridges Foundation specialising in Muslim de-radicalisation; member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.

- Professor Gwen Griffith-Dickson – Director, The Lokahi Foundation. Visiting Professor, King’s College London

- Abdullah Almatar – Researcher in Ethics, Logic and Philosophy of Science at the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter.

- Roshan Muhammed Salih – British journalist, who has worked for ITV, Channel 4, Al Jazeera, Islam Channel, Press TV, amongst others. Editor, 5Pillars website and author, Confessions of a Muslim Journalist.
