Event description

Description

This workshop will give participants an introduction into some of the strategies available to practitioners wishing to use drama in a prison context. The focus will be on exploring how games and exercises can be used as the starting point for exploring a range of themes and ideas relating to offending behaviour. It will also touch on some of the considerations you may need to make when approaching work in a custodial setting.

Saul is Director of Rideout (Creative Arts for Rehabilitation), has over 30 years professional experience in using drama, theatre and digital video in criminal justice contexts. He was a founding member and former Director of Geese Theatre (UK) and has worked in numerous prisons across the UK, USA and Europe. His expertise lies in the use of drama games and exercises as the foundation for work that can lead to multiple outcomes for participants. In addition to running programmes for Rideout, Saul has been a principal session tutor in the School of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick since 2003, as well as guest lecturer at Manchester and Birmingham Universities.
