Is the sun setting on the Darjeeling tea industry?

The future of Darjeeling tea is at risk – along with the livelihoods of the thousands that depend on it. THIRST is working with tea companies and local civil society to help reverse this decline.

How can we best coordinate our work for maximum effect?

Many organisations are already doing excellent work to support tea workers and their families in various ways. But as the pressures on the industry increase, these efforts get harder to sustain. Many people in Darjeeling are looking beyond the tea industry for decent, dignified lives. But many tea workers and young people have told THIRST they would love to stay – if only they had decent jobs. Let's put our heads together and work out how we can complement each others' work and make the most of our combined knowledge, experience and resources to help make this happen.

THIRST is inviting buyers, producers and civil society organisations to collaborate on a new, fairer way forward. The first step is meeting with each of these groups individually.

Please join us to find out how we plan to help, and to tell us about your own efforts, so that we can work effectively side by side.

Please pass the message on through your networks. The more people who are involved the more likely we are to succeed!
