Save Our Trees: Spon End Doesn't Matter - Film Screening & Discussion
Date and time
A screening of the film 'Spon End Doesn't Matter' followed by a friendly, informal discussion at the Albany Theatre in Spon End, Coventry.
About this event
This film explores Coventry City Council's decision to cut down historic trees in Spon End, Coventry, on the edge of a conservation area. Local protestors and resident complaints and objections were ignored to make way for a road widening scheme.
Martina Irwin, Judith Craig and Terry Sandison, a mixture of campaigners and local residents, worked with artist Adele Mary Reed to produce the film, developed using footage from the peaceful protests. The idea was to help protestors use art as an alternative way to engage people in their debates. The project has been conceived by Photo Miners, with support from Arts Council England and Coventry City of Culture with the participants taking part following an open call.
Join the filmmakers and a range of local campaigners for a friendly and relaxed conversation following the screening about what comes next. Find out about Coventry's climate action plan, how we can continue to protect green spaces in the city and connect as a community, and share your ideas and questions amongst friends.
