Description

Will Hutton and Andrew Adonis will be joining us in store to discuss Saving Britain: How We Must Change to Prosper in Europe, their incisive polemic calling for change in Britain to reflect Brexit, rather than leaving the EU to generate change.

The EU, Will and Andrew argue, despite its frailties, is a success story. In Saving Britain, they highlight the advantages of leaving as illusory, and instead move for change in Britain to reflect the populace who have been neglected, and the communities shut out from prosperity. Will and Andrew set out a bold plan to transform Britain and fight for Europe as a force for good at home and abroad.

At this event, Will and Andrew will further elaborate on their vision for Britain’s future, as well as taking questions and discussing their work.

Will Hutton is Principal of Hertford College, co-founder of the Big Innovation Centre and a columnist for the Observer, where he was Editor, then Editor-in-Chief for four years. He began his career in journalism as economics editor for the BBC’s Newsnight and for the Guardian. He is the author of: How Good We Can Be – Ending the Mercenary Society and Building a Great Country; The World We’re In; The Writing on the Wall: China and the West in the 21st Century; and Them and Us: Changing Britain – Why We Need a Fair Society.

Andrew Adonis is a Labour peer. He served as Transport Secretary under Gordon Brown, having previously been an education minister, Head of Downing Street’s Policy Unit and an academic. He chaired the National Infrastructure Commission from 2015 to 2017, before resigning his post over his concerns with the Conservative government’s approach to Brexit.

Please join us for what promises to be a fantastic evening.
