Description

Saving for a very dry day: The contribution of self-help groups to building resilience in East Africa

Tearfund is hosting a learning event and launch of its new publication on self-help groups.

The event will explore lessons learnt from Tearfund's 15 years' experience in developing self-help groups with support from Tear Netherlands and Tearfund Ireland

The publication reveals the findings of six external research studies undertaken by ODI, Trinity College Dublin, Tufts University and others on self-help groups and resilience to drought and other stresses.

The event will feature an introduction from Tearfund's CEO Nigel Harris, short presentations from Ephraim Tsegay (Tearfund's Country Representative for Ethiopia), Lena Weingartner (ODI), Andy Morgan (Deputy Head of Tearfund's East and Southern Africa Team), and Caspar Waalewijn (Tear Netherlands) followed by a Q&A time led by Mike Wiggins, Tearfund's Technical Team Leader.
