"Saving Young Lives" - Don't Crash or Burn!
Fri 2 June 2017, 10:00 – 15:00 BST
The first ever UK conference outlining the links between youth unemployment, accidental fires in the home and road traffic collisions.
“Research led by The Future Melting Pot shows a clear relationship between poverty and deprivation, accidental dwelling fires (ADFs), and road traffic collisions (RTCs)”
West Midlands Fire Service is hosting a multi-agency conference for anyone concerned with youth wellbeing to present the findings of TFMP's study and to develop possible solutions.
This conference will:
Provide a chance for you to hear about our research into the links between youth unemployment, those killed and seriously injured on our roads, and accidental dwelling fires among young people aged 16-24
Raise awareness about important trends across hot spot areas in the West Midlands
Highlight the connection between unemployment, road traffic collisions and accidental dwelling fires
Increase awareness of the findings and how it can inform funding and decision making
Share information that could enable more effective engagement with young people and extend preventative work
Give you an opportunity to share your professional views and provide feedback
Together we will develop the next phase of the project to save more young lives.
Who should attend?
This conference is aimed at: local authority policy makers, road safety officials, influencers in road safety and accidental dwelling fires, police, community safety and public health practitioners, academics, businesses and others concerned with young people’s employment and wellbeing.
Please note: Lunch will be provided.
