About this event

Social Behavioural & Design (SBD) Research Programme: Community of Practice Scoping Session

Thursday 20 May 2021, 10am-11.30am

You are invited by the Healthy Ageing Challenge Community of Practice team to an informal scoping session for SBD Research Programme members.

This event will be an opportunity for the SBD Research Programme projects to explore how the Community of Practice can support you as part of the SBD Research Programme and also to explore ways in which you can get involved in our activities and events.

You will also be able to meet and engage with the other SBD projects; identify commonalities and shared challenges; and prioritise how the Community of Practice can support your research journey.

UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge Community of Practice, delivered by the Centre for Ageing Better, is a learning community that brings together organisations with an interest in developing solutions that support people to age well. It is a space for members to collaborate, problem-solve and share their expertise, learnings and insights.

The Community of Practice project team, Veronica, Annette and Louise look forward to seeing you on Thursday 20 May.

Everyone has the right to a good life as they get older and our whole society benefits when they do. But far too many people face huge barriers that prevent them from doing so. As a result, many older people are living in bad housing, dealing with poverty and poor health and made to feel invisible in their communities and society.

Ageism, including discrimination in employment, stark inequalities in people’s health and financial circumstances, chronic underinvestment in helping people to age well and a lack of political focus – are all contributing to this growing and critical problem.

At the Centre for Ageing Better we are pioneering ways to make ageing better a reality for everyone. We aim to inspire and inform those in power to tackle the inequalities faced by older people, call out and challenge ageism in all its forms and encourage the widespread take-up of brilliant ideas and approaches that help people to age better.

Get it right and more of us can experience good health, financial security and be treated fairly and with respect as we grow older.

Help us make sure everyone can age better.
