Frequently asked questions

Who is running this event?

Emma Gray from 1st Pillar and Helen Burge from Buoyant Impact are running the event (see our websites). It's our first one and we are excited to share it with you. We found an opportunity to share, learn, be mindful and enjoy the company of our SBL friends for longer than a day...so we took it.

What does the cost cover?

This is an all-inclusive 2-day experience including - One night in a single on campus en-suite room, all meals provided, inspirational sessions including sustainability, operational excellence, wellbeing and fitness. Consider it your SBL reset button for the new academic year - for you.

How come it is so much cheaper than other residential events?

Good Q! The RAU are on summer break so have offered us rooms at a really affordable rate, especially considering the amazing facilities. Also, it's our first one so we have tried to keep other costs low. Come and help us shape the future of the SBL Retreat.

Who is leading the wellness and fitness?

Chloe, personal trainer from CO:Fitness will be leading wellness and fitness sessions, tailored to the needs and ability of the group. Whether you want to run (or walk) through Cirencester Park, or just want to sit mindfully in the peace and quiet. There will be something for everyone.

What else will we be doing?

We have got full use of the facilities at the Royal Agricultural University and Cirencester Growth Hub. We want to learn and grow, share experience and reflect, but for us, the most important aspect is to spend relaxed time with colleagues who understand the challenges of being an SBL.

Why should I come?

Surrounded by the beauty of the Cotswolds, you’ll have the chance to focus on your personal well-being while connecting with like-minded SBLs. You’ll leave feeling inspired, equipped with strategies to enhance your work, and with valuable connections to support your ongoing growth.
