Join us for a special evening of cinema in support of Scottish Borders Rape Crisis Centre, raising vital funds to help us increase our provision of accessible, inclusive and trauma-informed support for survivors of sexual violence.
The Film
We’ll be screening Surviving Translation. This film takes an in-depth look at the ethics of translation services – focusing specifically on the traumatic experiences of female migrants.
Starting with Charlotte Bosseaux’s research, film director, cinematographer and editor, Ling Lee, alongside Charlotte who co-created the film, captured intimate conversations with migrants and language professionals – weaving these together with poetic and evocative imagery to create an informative and moving study on this unexamined subject
After the film, we’ll be hosting a Q&A panel which will include:
- Ling Lee, Director and Co-Producer of the film,
- Dr Katy Proctor, Senior Lecturer in Gender, Violence, and Criminology (Zemiology)
- Susie Stein, CEO, Scottish Borders Rape Crisis Centre
