Event description

Description

The BROADEST and most ambitious Intro to Acting course in London.

Being advertised on several platforms

The Through-line:

This course is a gentle, fun and focused introduction to acting or a refresher for those with some experience. You will work with professional actor and artistic director of Scaffold State, Gareth Kennerley, over 9 weeks on a dramatic monologue which will be performed at the end of the course to an invited audience of family and friends. He will introduce you to ways of approaching the text and will also spend the first hour of each session exploring different dramatic games and exercises with you as well as sharing his performance philosophy.

The Exploration:

For 8 of the 9 weeks you will also work with visiting teachers. These are all actors, directors, producers and practitioners within the performance arts. Gareth and all the teachers are working in the industry currently and bring you up to date and contemporary ways of looking at drama. Participants must be open minded and prepared to do learning work outside of class. They must be enthusiastic and able to attend at least 7 of the 9 sessions including the last session.

The cost of the course is bonkers given the professionals you will work with.

The course is experiential and self-determining it’s a great start to get your acting juices flowing but the onus is on you to take from it what you can.

Completion of the step one course will allow you to be considered for future scaffold state courses and public performances.
