About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

In the HighScope Curriculum, small-group times are adult initiated activities during which children explore materials in their own way with the adult sharing the excitement of their discovery. This session will explore the role of the adult in supporting experimentation, discovery, problem solving, conversations and how to support each child’s developmental and ability level The session will also apply these principles to planning Large Group Time activities. Large group time provides children with the opportunity to explore new materials, encourages group membership and leadership, builds a sense of community and gives children a repertoire of common experiences.
