About this event

This is a recording of a talk called Scale, Inhabitation & Detail: From a 5th Generation Scott by Nick Gilbert Scott, recorded in 2021.

Nick Gilbert Scott’s talk will consider key architectural themes that have occupied the almost two-century long Scott architectural dynasty, He will do so in reference to two main themes. The first is “scale inhabitation and detail”, which will examine the importance of human scale and the embodied experience of space—this will also be linked to Nick’s background in dance theory. The second theme is the importance of drawing to the family, in all its forms. He will also talk about the Gothic – its rhythms, patterns and verticality – and reflect on his relationships with his father Richard Gilbert Scott, grandfather Giles Gilbert Scott and his love/hate relationship with architecture itself.

Nick Gilbert Scott is an architect and designer. He set up his own practice in 1977, taught for many years at the Plymouth University School of Architecture, and after obtaining an MA in Dance was Visiting Lecturer at Laban (now Trinity Laban) Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

After booking a ticket, you will be given access to the recording of the event. Please ignore the event date in the listings.
