School Attendance (EBSA) - School Staff Training
By Newham CAMHS Workshops
Online event
Overview
A free online training session for Newham school staff that explores emotionally based school avoidance
Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) is a growing concern across Newham, with many primary and secondary pupils referred to the Wellbeing In Newham Schools (WINS) team for anxiety-related attendance difficulties. National data reflects this trend, with nearly a third of secondary pupils avoiding school due to anxiety (stem4, 2024).
This training offers staff an opportunity to explore the potential causes of EBSA and consider practical strategies that schools can implement at both an individual and whole-school level to help young people feel able and supported to attend school.
This will be via MS Teams and a link will be circulated before the event.
