School Governor Network: Social Mobility and School Governance
Tue 2 May 2017, 12:45 – 13:30 BST
Social mobility is one of the key ingredients of a fair, equal and progressive society. Education is a hugley influential factor in shaping the way social mobility occurs in a society. It is reasonable to expect that the growing role of the school governor and academy trustee could have a significant influence on how school level education might interpret, tackle and progress social mobility for their students.
In this session you will hear evidence and insights from Dr Michael Cross to show how reasonable it is to expect school governors (and MAT directors) to take on the broader role of ensuring education maximises its impact on student social mobility. Observations will be offered on the operation of “traditional” and “extended” governance models in schools, and how this has implications for the recruitment and organisation of school governor expertise and time.
A pofessioanl phtographer will be presnet to capture the event. Please make it clear to the event lead if you do not want you picture to be used for any communicaiton or evaluation purposes.
