The School of Law of the University of Leeds is pleased to announce its annual one-day Postgraduate research conference.

About this Event

The School of Law of the University of Leeds is pleased to announce its annual one-day Postgraduate research conference. The theme of this year’s conference will be “the role of the law in an ever-changing society: national and international challenges in the 2020s” and will include papers in the areas of three of the school’s research centres; business law and practice, law and social justice, criminology and criminal justice.

In addition to papers delivered by postgraduate research students, the conference features two keynote speakers:

• Dr. Felix Steffek, Cambridge University who will discuss 'A General Theory of the Law of Corporate Debt’ as well as addressing methodological issues and research challenges.

• Alex Batesmith, University of Liverpool, who has worked as a barrister and United Nations Prosecutor and his current research interests include post-conflict and transitional justice studies (including international criminal law and international humanitarian law); justice sector capacity building in developing legal systems (including access to justice and the intercultural effectiveness of lawyers); national and international human rights law and regulation (including sustainability and business and human rights, in particular corporate criminal accountability).

The conference is free to attend and includes refreshments and lunch.
