4 short presentations of research studies produced through the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning Practitioner Research Fund
About this event
The Development Education Research Centre (DERC) at IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education & Society, is hosting a research webinar to introduce and celebrate research studies produced through the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning (CCGL) Practitioner Research Fund.
The CCGL Practitioner Research Fund was an initiative to support research by educators on a global learning and/ or school partnerships theme running 2019-2022. Its purpose was to encourage small-scale research to promote innovation in global learning and school partnerships, to inform best practice and to build capacity at school level. The studies provide valuable insights into global learning and school partnerships at a school level, with practitioners offering fresh perspectives on under-researched topics.
Event format
This webinar includes brief presentations from four of the practitioner-researchers who will introduce their research, followed by a question and answer session Chaired by DERC’s Dr Fran Hunt and Dr Nicole Blum.
The event is to be hosted via Zoom. Registered participants will be emailed a link in the days before the event, and also 30 minutes before as a reminder.
Presentations
- Jane Yates: Global learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Alyson Meredith: A study exploring the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on overseas school partnerships.
- Jen Simpson: Exploring the transformative potential of specific pedagogies on pupils’ awareness and critical understandings of global issues.
- Anne Roots: Do teachers see global school partnerships as a tool to deliver antiracist and inclusive approaches?
Who is the event aimed at?
The webinar will be especially relevant to school-based educators with an interest in global learning and international school partnerships; practitioners supporting teachers in these areas, as well as academics and policy makers.
The CCGL Practitioner Research Fund
All Research Fund studies were supported by Dr Fran Hunt and Dr Nicole Blum in the Development Education Research Centre at IOE. The British Council funded the research. In total fifteen studies were funded and supported, with 12 publications (so far), hosted on the DERC website. A further webinar will take place in the autumn.
