Event description

Description

Two research teams from the UK and Estonia will provide an overview of how their respective projects are using social practice approaches (specifically, Shove et al.’s (2012) three elements model) to understand school physical activity culture and develop whole-school interventions. Each team will discuss their implementation plans and particularly how they have converted theoretical ideas into achievable actions. The two teams will also explore their measurement and evaluation plans in the context of an ambitious aim to achieve physical activity culture change in schools.

This symposium aims to contribute to the ongoing learning about the benefits of a sociological approach to behaviour change as well as relating to the ISPAH congress’ theme of providing evidence into policy and practice to achieve population level change. This event welcomes anyone with interest in using sociological approaches to behaviour change in the public health field. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
