What does school readiness REALLY mean? With all the downward pressure on children, how can we help children to be curious, capable, excited learners, with the strong foundations they need to flourish at school? You will also be able to use the resources provided in your work with parents, helping to develop their understanding of school readiness.
Additonally we will help you understand what evidence Ofsted inspectors look for to judge school readiness, and will show you how inspectors make a judgement in the Outcomes section of the inspection.
This school readiness training will look at: the importance of PSED, the development of confidence, self-esteem, relationships, independence and dispositions to learning (linked to characteristics of effective learning).
We will also consider the vital importance of physical skills, specifically linked to the new EYFS 2017 guidance from the Chief Medical Officer. We explore the vital nature of learning through movement and how this has a significant impact on children’s readiness for school.
And we consider why (and how) Ofsted look for an extremely sharp focus on helping children acquire Communication and Language skills. Recognised as being essential in giving children secure foundations for the next stage in their learning, this training will provide you with tools to ensure you have a language rich environment to promote C&L for all children. We will also consider the specific needs of children with EAL.

Do you have directions and parking options for the event?
If you come along the A4 from Chippenham, go past the library on your left by the town centre traffic lights, and go straight through the traffic lights. Almost immediately there is a car park turning on your left, in between the row of houses, you will see a blue IN sign. This leads to the pay and display car park. If you miss it, go around the roundabout and back again.
Coming from Marlborough direction along the A4, go past The White Hart on your right (at the double mini-roundabout) and go straight ahead towards Chippenham. (Turn left here if coming from Melksham) Down the short hill, continue right at the roundabout. Very quickly you will see an entrance to a car park on your right in between the houses(go past the blue OUT sign and see the IN sign), If you miss it turn right at the traffic lights, turn round down there and come back. Parking cost £1.50 for three hours.
Walk out of the car park back to the A4 along the entrance lane. Cross over the road and you will see flats behind the river. Walk left (away from the traffic lights) and you will see Marden House just over a bridge. We are upstairs. Any problems ring Lucy 07869 705070
