SCHOOLS Championships - National Series 2019 is kindly hosted by the National Rifle Association, National Smallbore Rifle Association & Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting and open to all including adults.

CLOSING DATE: Monday 1st July 2019, if space is available, we will accept late entries.

This event is part of the British Shooting Target Sprint National Series 2019.

National Series: 49.5mm Targets / 400m Run

Age/Gender Categories: (Categorised according to date of birth).

  • YOUTH Women (2004 – 2008) 15 & Under – Minimum 11yrs as of 31st Dec 2019
  • YOUTH Men (2004 – 2008) 15 & Under – Minimum 11yrs as of 31st Dec 2019
  • JUNIOR Women (1999 – 2003) 16 – 20yrs
  • JUNIOR Men (1999 – 2003) 16 – 20yrs
  • Women (1998 > ) 21yrs +
  • Men (1998 > ) 21yrs +
  • Women-46* (1973 >) 46+yrs
  • Men-46* (1973 >) 46+yrs

*W46 and M46 categories will be recognised on the results within the Women’s and Men’s categories respectfully only.

OPEN TO ALL, equipment available to borrow, no experience needed.

National Series Final: The top placed 5 available athletes in each age and gender category qualify for the National Series Final 2019, to be held on Sunday 22nd September at YOSC (Yate Outdoor Sports Complex, South Glos). More information on www.TargetSprint.com/events

Day Format: From 5-6pm races are open to all to enter. A waiting list will be in place, when these races are full.

From 6pm onwards, students attending the National Schools Meeting have priority. Each School attending the National Schools Meeting has 4 spaces available. A waiting list will be in place if schools wish to enter more athletes.

Waiting List: Following the closing date (Sunday 7th July) if spaces are available these will be open to those on the waiting lists.

Results will be ranked according to athletes Heat Times and categorised into age/gender accordingly.

Prize Giving will take place on Wednesday 17th July (the day after the event). If athletes are unable to attend the prize giving, awards will be sent in the post.

Session / Race Format:

Session: 30mins Per Race. Each Race includes pre event training, Target Sprint Safety Certificate and full race.

Race: 400m Run - Shoot 5 Knockdown Targets - 400m Run - Shoot 5 Knockdown Targets - 400m Run (Same for all age categories).

Pre-Event Information:

Athletes attending the National Schools Meeting: School Teachers will be issued information when they register for the National Schools Meeting.

Athletes NOT attending the National Schools Meeting: One week prior to the event, you will receive pre event information via the email address given in your entry. If you haven't received this, please contact events@BritishShooting.org.uk

Do I need Target Sprint experience?

No experience needed prior to the event, but advised.

Is there training available on the day?

Yes, 10-15mins training time will be allocated prior to each race.

When is the National Series Final? (49.5mm Targets, 400m Run).

When is the British Championships? (35mm Targets, 400m Run).

What is the minimum age?

11 years on 31st December 2019

Will I be contacted before the event?

Yes, the event organiser will contact you at least 7 days before the event and/or following the event closing date with your Heat Start Time and Event Timetable.

If I qualify for the National Final, do I have to compete at it?

No, but please notify the organiser at Events@BritishShooting.org.uk as soon as possible.

Do I need to bring anything to the event?

No. All equipment can be provided. After entering you will be added to the list of entrants, so no need to bring your event confirmation. Just wear suitable clothing and footwear for a running and shooting event.

What is your refund policy?

No refunds will be available.

Do I have to have experience of shooting?

No, but it's advised. Limited coaching will be available as part of the day.
